Archangel Michael (final version, detail)

Today I've delivered an Icon
While I was finishing it I realized that I actually never did this kind of style.
Reason why it took me too long to do it.
I don't want to talk too much theory, but let's say that one of the main differences between Byzantine and Gothic painting was attitude towards a shadow. In Byzantine painting shadows are omitted and they merely serve to describe a form, while Gothic painting, although very stylized too, uses shadow and is trying to achieve much more realism.
Besides, I think face is too "human". In one moment I had more "mystical" expression, but while working on form I've lost it. I just didn't wanted it to look like an alien face, so I played safe.
Not good to criticize yourself.
